Crain's reports that a suburban investor has taken control of the old Recycled Paper Greetings building at 3636-38 N. Broadway in Lakeview, and that the company plans to open a self-storage facility on the site. That could be good news, as long as the company plans to keep the building intact (and as long as they don't slap purple and orange stripes on it). But the new owner, JSM Venture Inc., hasn't commented on that yet. "If the new owner is not going to be doing anything to irreparably destroy the historic character of the building, then we wish them well," Jonathan Fine from Preservation Chicago told Crain's.
