Architects, Contractors Going Back to Work

New, 1 comment

Construction in the Chicago area is set to rise for the first time in three years, Crain's reports. Through April, contracts for residential buildings are up 8 percent and non-residential projects are up 17 percent. "You're going to see some tower cranes go up this summer, and they're going to be rental apartment buildings," said John Lahey, president of Solomon Cordwell Buenz, which has been riding the economic roller coaster. The firm, which has designed several major developments that are currently in the planning stage, laid off 75 employees last year but recently hired 50 back. [Chicago Real Estate Daily]
