Because the vast majority of it is lined with parks, few people have private access to Chicago's lakefront, but some lucky folks do have direct access to Chicago's other waterfront, the Chicago River. What's so special about living on a scuzzy river? Well, it's more interesting (and quieter) than having your property bordered by an alley. It is true that you probably don't want to swim in that water, but if you're into boating, you'll never have to cart your vessel to a marina. This 3,900-square-foot home in Lincoln Square hit the market about three weeks ago, and it's one of the better riverside properties we found. The place has a big, leafy backyard and a large dock on the river. Plus, it's walking distance to the commercial streets of Lincoln Square. But having the best of both worlds does come at a price: $1.45 million.
