First Look at Fifield's Proposed High-Rise at Halsted & Kinzie

New, 15 comments

K Station is the mega-development that never quits. The two Alta at K Station towers were among the last new high-rises to go up at the end of the last construction boom, and it looks like Fifield Companies could be one of the first developers to get a shovel in the ground during the upcoming mini-boom. Fifield is planning to build a 33-story rental tower at 353 N. Halsted, just west of the new Jewel Osco at Kinzie and Desplaines. Plans call for 496 apartments and 347 parking spaces. Like most of the other K Station high-rises, the building is designed by Pappageorge Haymes, and it looks glassier and sleeker than some of their recent designs. "The contemporary form of the building is expressed in an elegant balance of horizontal and vertical concrete and glass elements," boasts the P/H website. Like the Alta building, this one will have an outdoor pool on top of the parking podium.
