The cherry pickers were in full effect in Lakeshore East last week, as workers put the finishing touches on the $29-million Village Market Center. Construction began on the 105,000-square-foot retail center last March, and press releases from last year said it would be completed within a year of groundbreaking. They didn't quite meet that goal, but it looks like it'll be close. The development will be anchored by a 55,000-square-foot bi-level Mariano's Fresh Market supermarket, which will be joined by a 13,000-square-foot Three Forks steakhouse and a small Black Coffee Gallery coffee shop. By our count, more than 30,000 square feet of commercial space is still available in the building. Construction is scheduled to wrap up this summer.
