Five Chicago Condos with Terrific Terraces You Can Buy Now

New, 2 comments

It's time for Chicagoans everywhere to break out of their basement tiki bars and start thinking about grilling burgers and hosting rooftop soirees. Though perhaps not as jaw-dropping as our New York counterparts (our search was limited to homes currently on the market, after all), here's a handful of urban dwellings for sale with terrific terraces:

1. The Place: 201 W. Grand Ave. Ph 2 [Koenig & Strey]
The Price: $3.4 million
The Terrace: The penthouse of Contemporaine in River North has over 3,000 square feet of lush rooftop space filled with Japanese gardens and waterfalls (more about that here). Not to fret, the monthly assessments ($2,000/mo) cover the unit's water usage.

2. The Place: 25 E. Superior St. Unit 4701-02 [Baird & Warner]
The Price: $7.9 million
The Terrace: Of course, an 8,876-square-foot penthouse condo off Michigan Avenue's shopping district would outdo the rest. Just as the listing promises, this property's five terraces offer 360-degree views of the city's skyline.

3. The Place: 888 S. Michigan Ave., Ph 4 [Koenig & Strey]
The Price: $2.65 million
The Terrace: As we mentioned in a recent post, this South Loop pad has three outdoor terraces and one is designed as a rooftop yard. Even with Grant Park located just across the street, you may not have any reason to leave home.

4. The Place: 474 N Lake Shore Dr #1606 [Baird & Warner]
The Price: $1.79 million
The Terrace: This 16th-floor Streeterville condo comes with a 800-square-foot private terrace, which features a built-in grilling station, a hot tub, and some spiffy views of the lake and Navy Pier. Not bad. Not bad at all.

5. The Place: 150 West Superior St., #501 [Bouchard Properties LLC]
The Price: $735,000
The Terrace: Though not as big as some of the others, this outdoor space meets all the requirements of the ultimate bachelor rooftop. Sure, it looks a little cluttered, because the owners have crammed in surround sound, a flat-screen TV, a Weber gas grill, a hot tub, and a couple of lounge chairs in just 400 square feet of space.
