Landmark Prairie Style Home in South Shore Reduced Again

Earlier this morning, we looked at a Frank Lloyd Wright home that doesn't look like a standard Wright. Here's a home on Chicago's South Side that looks like a Wright, but isn't! Architect John Van Bergen designed this place in 1913 for ad exec Allan Miller. Van Bergen isn't quite a household name, but as we mentioned in a previous post, he worked with Wright on some of his more famous homes. The four-bedroom single-family is located just south of 71st Street in South Shore, an area not exactly known for its pricey houses. Perhaps that's why this recently-restored home has sat on the market for over a year, during which it has been reduced six times by a total of $75,000, without selling. It sure is nice to look at, though. The home has Landmark status, and the current owners have made some key upgrades, including a new garage and a modern kitchen. The home hit the market in late 2009 for $499,000, and it's now priced at $424,900.
