Chicago Cubs: Embracing Homeownership in the City

New, 1 comment

Two weeks into the regular season, the Cubs are at third place in the NL Central standings, but they're in first place for homeownership among Chicago sports teams. Whereas members of the Bears and Bulls typically prefer suburbs like Glencoe, Highland Park and Hinsdale, Cubs players have mostly been buying on the North Side and in downtown Chicago. The Trib's Bob Goldsborough keeps a very close watch on the real estate purchases of area pro athletes, and in today's Elite Street column he reports that at least eight current Cubs own homes in Chicago (pitchers Ryan Dempster and Carlos Zambrano own two apiece), mostly in Streeterville, the Gold Coast, and Lakeview.
