The City Council won't be voting on Webster Square today, after all. Sandz Development had hoped to get the project approved before recently-elected 43rd Ward Alderman Michele Smith, who opposes the development, takes office on May 16, but that's looking less likely. Ald. Edward Burke and Richard Mell had the vote deferred until May 4 in hopes that the developers and Smith could reach some sort of compromise during that time. [Sun-Times]
