"Deal Of The Week! Very Unique! Bank Owned! Great Opportunity! Former Church in Hyde Park...Huge Lot!" says the caption on the above photo, which is posted on Sergio & Banks' Facebook wall. A Tipster sent us a link to the photo, which is of course the long-vacant St. Stephens Church at 5640 S. Blackstone in Hyde Park. We've spotlighted a bunch of old churches around town in recent weeks, but none as beat-up as St. Stephens, which has become a favorite venue for local photographers of urban decay. A developer previously sought to redevelop the property, keeping the facade intact, but that fell through. Last year, Lee Bey visited the building and took some pretty stunning photos inside. When he visited, the church was priced at $1.7 million. The price is now set at $1.5 million.
