Still Praying for a Buyer at The Sanctuary in Humboldt Park

The Sanctuary is one of the more interesting church conversions in Chicago. From the street, it looks sort of like a crappy motel with aluminum siding than a high-end condo building. And strapping balconies in front of the arched windows of the former Our Lady of Good Counsel Church borders on sinful. But inside, the condos are quite nice. In January, Unit 1A topped our list of Chicago's top ten church conversions, but that hasn't helped sell the 3BD, 3BA condo. The place has pricier finishes than many of the other units in the building, highlighted by the glass-enclosed kitchen. It also has a big balcony looking out on lovely Western Avenue. The 2,800-square-foot unit has been on the market since last April, when it was listed for $569,000. Over the weekend, it was given a second $20K price reduction, bringing the asking price down to $529,000.
