The good news: Mahogany Ventures is still planning to go forward with the Shops and Lofts at 47, a mixed-use development that will bring new housing and badly-needed retail to Cottage Grove and 47th Street in Grand Boulevard. The bad news: The construction timetable is moving back again. In October, we learned that construction was set to begin sometime this spring. Yesterday, Quad Communities Development Corp director Bernita Johnson-Gabriel told Curbed that because the developer is still working with the city on different lending streams, it looks like groundbreaking will be pushed back until late summer or fall of this year. Phase 1 of the development will include 72 rental apartments and about 28,500 square feet of retail space. So far, an Aldi grocery store has been named as an anchor tenant of the five-story building.
