It's been well known for some time that Northwestern University intends to demolish Bertrand Goldberg's Prentice Women's Hospital, and a university spokesman recently confirmed that view. So what are preservationists doing to try to save the clover leaf-shaped structure? Three architecture firms prepared a pro bono study for Landmarks Illinois looking at whether Prentice could be reused (yes, it can), writes Blair Kamin, and they plan to show the study to city officials this week.
