North Lake Shore Drive is in bad need of a full-scale overhaul that would mirror the 2001-05 reconstruction of South Lake Shore Drive, writes Jon Hilkevitch. "But it was just resurfaced last year?!" The problems apparently run deeper. New landscaping, softening of the dangerous Oak Street curve, and creating more pedestrian access to the lakefront could all be on the table.
