On the retail front, yesterday's big news was that as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, Borders would be closing all of its Chicago stores except for the State Street location. So what will become of the vacant retail space? Sun-Times writer Sandra Guy suggests that Walmart could swoop in. A Walmart spokesperson said that the retailer is "having hundreds of conversations across the city" about locations, but there's no confirmation that they're targeting any specific Borders sites just yet.
