A Contemporary Condo in the 19th-Century Newberry Mansion

New, 1 comment

It can be a little startling to step inside a building that was built in the 1870s to find an apartment with the sorts of the contemporary finishes you'd expect to find in a new, high-end condo. This 2,200-square-foot condo in the Newberry Mansion (which was built in 1878, according to to AIA Guide to Chicago), is spread out over three floors with a massive roof deck that looks out on the high-rises of River North and the Gold Coast. The kitchen was renovated recently, and the bathrooms look newer as well. The three-bedroom, 2.5-bath unit is located a block south of Washington Square Park in River North. The place hit the market yesterday, and it's priced at $915,000 ($416 per square foot).
