Frank Gehry's crinkly skyscraper at 8 Spruce Street in NYC won't be LEED-certified, Tribune architecture critic Blair Kamin reports; meanwhile, the developer of Jeanne Gang's Aqua tower recently applied for LEED. Who cares? "[T]hese are two of the most acclaimed skyscrapers of our time, and they were designed by two of the most highly-publicized architects of our time," Kamin writes. What Gehry does or doesn't do "can have enormous influence, not simply on architects but on developers." [Cityscapes]
