Is the city finally ready to fix the most dangerous part of the lakefront bike path? The path currently sends cyclists on a narrow sidewalk on the lower level of Lake Shore Drive, but for several years the Chicago Department of Transportation has been drawing up plans and looking for the cash to build a separate bridge, known as the "Navy Pier Flyover," for the bike path. On Thursday, the plan will go before the Chicago Plan Commission, and if approved, construction could begin in spring of next year. [Active Trans]
