HIgh-Priced in Highland Park

You know you're doing OK when your home sells for 58% of its 2010 ask, and you still register your swanky town's highest-priced sale in four years. The Deal Estate's Dennis Rodkin muses on the sale of this 2.7 acre lakefront parcel with its 8,688 sf mansion. The seller acquired the property in 2002 for $4.2M, which involved a different house, and invested an untold amount in building the new, much larger house with its indoor pool and tram to a private beach. Though last week's sale price of $5.1M suggests the seller may not have recouped her investment. The new owner is now neighbors with Billy Corgan, who bought the mansion three doors down in 2003.
