Another South Loop parking lot has bitten the dust. This weekend, Curbed stopped by State and Balbo to have a look at construction of the new Jones College Prep High School. A lot has happened since February, when we first announced that renderings had been released. Crews are busy at work on the foundation of the seven-story, $91 million dollar building designed by Ralph Johnson of Perkins + Will. The fate of the current school on 606 S. State St? It will likely be demolished and replaced with athletic facilities and a pocket park as part of larger plans to straighten a crooked section of Harrison Street. The new building is expected to open for classes in fall 2013.
