Ravenswood Station Pushes Retail, Suppresses Residences

New, 20 comments

Ravenswood Station's newest developers, Barrett & Porto and The Taxman Company, are getting ready to shop their new designs to the 47th Ward Council Meeting on Thursday. Conspicuously absent is the residential component, previously along Lawrence, distanced from the Metra tracks. According to Central Square Journal and our prior coverage, the original plan called for a condo tower which was swept away by community opposition and replaced by three smaller buildings totaling 160 units. That was as of September. Now the developers have rendered the condos out of existence and plan to only pitch the 286,000 sf of retail, anchored by Mariano's Fresh Market. Sights are set on a Spring 2013 opening, assuming fate is kind to this attempt.
