Video Interlude

Not too long ago a neat little Chicago tourist film, circa 1950, was circulating the blogs. It was a corny technicolor dream. Now, Lee Bey at WBEZ has harvested from youtube equally impressive 1930's newsreel footage of iconic avenues and landmarks, some not with us today. Contrast the footage of Soldier Field, Shedd Aquarium, and the surrounding desolation with present day South Loop (of course, the desolation just migrated 10 blocks south). Enjoy this brief video interlude and a bonus 1955 home movie clip before your long commute home. [WBEZ]
