The Cook County Forest Preserve has gone shopping. The Tribune informed yesterday that the county has budgeted $10 million for land acquisition this coming year. It wants to buy quantity and quality, and may find both given the low cost of land at the moment. The goal is to buy adjoining parcels wherever possible to expand existing preserve land in a logical fashion. The user fee financed budget increase means no new taxes, in case you're prone to freak over such things.
