Five Single-Family Homes with Private Indoor pools in Chicago

New, 2 comments

In the winter, who doesn't like to go for a swim? Sure, it'll make your home smell like chlorine, and after the first week you'll probably never use it, but nothing sounds better in January than having your very own private, indoor pool. Homes with indoor pools aren't particularly common or popular in the city, though, as evidenced by the fact that all of these homes have sat on the market for more than 10 months.

5. The Property: 821 S. Bell St. [Koenig & Strey]
The Price: $995,000
The Neighborhood: Tri-Taylor
The Skinny: This home is perhaps the most unlikely location for an indoor pool in Chicago. It's by far the most expensive home on the market in Tri-Taylor, and it's also probably the ugliest. The pool, however, looks big enough to splash around in, and it's located in a big, 2-story atrium.

4. The Property: 522 N. Ada St. [@properties]
The Price: $1,299,900
The Neighborhood: West Town
The Skinny: A hidden gem in West Town, this 5BD, 2.5BA home was built in 2004 and has been on the market since the summer of 2009. Why won't it sell? Your guess is as good as ours, because the pool is probably the best of the lot.

3. The Property: 2421 N. Janssen Ave. [Michael Realty]
The Price: $1,499,000
The Neighborhood: Lincoln Park
The Skinny: Like the others, this 5BD home has sat on the market for a long time. The place was built in '05, and it has been on the market for the past 2 years. It looks like finishes in the house were sacrificed a bit for the pool, which looks rather dark and dingy.

2. The Property: 1010 W. George St. [Coldwell Banker]
The Price: $3,500,000
The Neighborhood: Lake View
The Skinny: The story of R. Kelly's old Lake View mansion has been well documented. The place comes with a decent lap pool, but if that isn't enough water to satisfy you, you could probably take a dip in the 1,600-gallon shark tank.

1. The Property: 3540 N. Ravenswood Ave. [Koenig & Strey]
The Price: $3,475,000
The Neighborhood: North Center
The Skinny: Another home that doesn't scream "I HAVE AN INDOOR POOL!" to passers-by, this North Side home has a pool and a basketball court on the roof.
