Criticizing architecture students' work can be a fun exercise, but let's not forget: They're our future. This vision for the Marina City towers comes from Harrington College of Design student Cameron Wudtke, who, for an interior design student, takes a special interest in the buildings' exteriors. Wudtke advocates knocking down walls, expanding most of the units to four-bedroom and encasing most of the balconies in glass. Other balconies are substituted for “living green walls,” a dubious concept that he says would offset carbon emissions and reduce urban heat. “Although beautiful just the way [it is], I redesigned the complex to restore its relevance,” Wudtke wrote.
