Penthouse with a View of Spire Crater Takes a Hit

When RiverView was built in 2000, buyers probably didn't pay much attention to the vacant lot directly to the east. Then, Garrett Kelleher came along and announced grandiose plans to to block some of their precious lake views with a 2,000-foot twisting tower. Residents must be pleased that the Chicago Spire is still nothing more than a massive hole in the ground, but not enough to convince everyone to stay put. The crown jewel of the 27-story high-rise is back on the market, and it has just been reduced by about 12 percent. The 3BR, 3.5BA duplex was originally listed in July for $4.5 million, and has since been reduced to $3,975,000. In addition to 5,200 square feet of indoor floor space, the penthouse has a 1,600 square-foot wraparound outdoor terrace.
