"Calling this a residential area is a joke, except to the folks who've systematically undermined the commercial viability of Lincoln Ave - the location of the proposed Fresh Market. Chicago can no longer afford these people. I can recall when they successfully fought the inclusion of public restrooms at Oz Park, on the grounds that people who don't live in the area might use "their park." Chicago can also no longer afford the tradition of allowing the local alderman to determine zoning issues. That tradition has led to too much corruption and harm to the city over the years." —Joe Zekas [Sun-Times: Alderman Opposes Current Webster Square Plans]
