Price of Granville Tower "Rehabber Dream" Dropped 20 Percent

With its funky, off-kilter balconies, and because it's taller than most of its Edgewater surroundings, Granville Tower is difficult to ignore. Emporis has it filed in the "Brutalism" category, but in many ways it's in a class of its own. The 29-story high-rise began as rental apartments when it was built in 1966, and it was later converted to condos in 1979 — and it looks like this place hasn't been updated since then. The listing bills it as "a rehabber dream in HOT Loyola/Edgewater," one of the few times you'll see those words in the same sentence. The place came on the market last month for $132,900, and it was recently reduced to $105,000. Another interesting feature about the building: all of the units are duplexes, so this 2BD, 1.5BA condo is laid out on two floors.
