Some changes are afoot at the 1149 North State Street building, which a developer sought to demolish and redevelop a few years back. Our retail-obsessed sister site, Racked Chicago, reports that the residential portion of the three-story building is uninhabitable because of a boiler problem, but the retail will soon be filled with a grumpy cobbler, a flower shop and an eBay drop-off storefront.
