If there were a contest for which Chicago home could pack the most mahogany wainscoting, mantels and molding between four walls, this old Victorian mansion in the Gold Coast would probably take the prize. The place was built in 1883 by Chicago architect A.M.F Colton (see some of his work here), who clearly had a taste for fine woodworking. The 4BD main home has 7,600 square feet of floor space, and the 3BD, 1BA carriage house adds another 2,000 square feet. The place came on the market about two years ago for $7.25 million, and two price reductions have brought it down to the current list price of $5.9 million.
