The City Council approved $3.2 million for planning the extension of the North Loop riverwalk from State Street to Lake Street last week. The funds will go towards planning "new open spaces, overlooks, under-bridge connections and walkways along the river's south bank," according to a press release from the mayor's office. Construction probably won't start for at least another year, and the total cost is estimated at $55 million. (via SkyscraperCity) [City of Chicago]
