Bucktown's Second-Biggest: A 7,800 Square-foot Mansion

New, 1 comment

When your home is 7,800 square feet, why would you ever need to venture outside? Although this newer-construction Bucktown mansion has at least twice as much floor space as anyone would reasonably need, some of the home's best features are actually outside. A guy named Sherif Mityas built the home in 2009, and he added a pool and a hot tub with a funky aqueduct-style fountain connecting them. The place is the second-biggest home currently on the market in Bucktown, after only Karen and Bob Ranquist's 8,600 square-foot warehouse-mansion on Leavitt. The home has a wine cellar that holds more than 1,000 bottles and a home theater in the basement. Upstairs, there's an open floor plan with lots of light. "We really wanted to open it up instead of chunking out the house," Mityas says in a video tour of the home. (Not sure what "chunking" is.) The 5BD, 6.5BA home hit the market in September for $4.9 million.
