What, No Suspension Bridge for Halsted?

One-by-one, Chicago is retiring its old steel bridges. A week ago, the Trib reported that the century-old Halsted Street Bridge on the Near North Side would be replaced, and that construction would begin soon; today we have some more deets. The new tied-arch bridge will have four lanes of traffic, bike lanes and new lighting. For the next year, though, Halsted traffic will be a complete clusterfuck rerouted to Cherry and Larrabee.
