Own a Piece of this Authentic Loft Lawsuit in the West Loop!

What/Where: A 2BD, 2BA duplex with a private roof deck and balcony in an industrial loft conversion of a former biscuit factory at 1000 W. Washington Blvd. in the West Loop.

Looks Good, Right? This place has been on the market since March 2007, and it was reduced by $150,000 last week, to $350,000.

The Catch: The owner of unit 541 describes the home as "uninhabitable," because the place has been plagued by chronic “water leaks, falling debris, hazardous and dangerous mold and asbestos contamination and other structural damages,” according to a website the owner set up to gripe about the condo association’s inaction. Several lawsuits have been filed, and building residents are on the hook for some very pricey repairs. “BUYER RESPON. FOR 2010 SPEC. ASSMT.,” the listing specifies. The owner vacated the unit more than four years ago and claims that more than $4 million in damages have accrued over that time. Oh, and the place has been gutted; it comes without flooring, cabinetry or appliances.
