It's very likely that Santiago Calatrava's 2,000-foot Chicago Spire will never be built, but look over there: Some enterprising hippies built a 25-foot replica in the desert! It spirals more than Calatrava's design, making it easy to climb. Erich Remash and Chris Thomas erected the Helix Spire out of 196 two-by-fours, and then they set it ablaze. Symbolism? [ArchDaily]
