It seems like everything Oprah touches turns to gold — except for this place. The talk show goddess bought the modest (by her standards) 4,600 square-foot home for $5.6 million back in 2006, but she reportedly never moved in, telling Chicago magazine that she feared people could see in her windows. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. She then dumped it for a loss in 2008, for $4.5 million. The 3BD, 3.5BA home came back on the market in May, for $4.6 million, and it's still listed for that price. There's still that issue of privacy, though. Can we chalk that up to celebrity paranoia, or can the neighbors really see into unit 6-W?
Yes, it does look like the windows in the kitchen are pretty close to those of a neighboring building, but that's to be expected in most urban high-rises. The view from most of the other windows shown in this slide show face north, looking out on the Oak Street Beach. Monthly assessments on the place are estimated at $7,302.
