Apple Store Mania

Chicago Tribune architecture critic Blair Kamin serves up his review of the new Lincoln Park Apple Store, and despite the "cookie-cutter" design, he likes it! But he does offer one bit of well-deserved criticism: "The principal weakness stems from the tension between the building's triangular plot and its rigid, right-angled shape. The bluntly rectangular south front, toward downtown, does nothing to acknowledge the angularity of the site, while the open space to the building's south is treated like an afterthought." [Trib]
