Chicago's residential neighborhoods are marred with icky-looking half-built, unfinished homes that attract rats and squatters, reported the Chicago Tribune over the weekend. What can you do to help? Buy a boarded-up eyesore and fix it up! This blot on the Humboldt Park ("West Bucktown," per the listing) landscape at 1519 N. Talman Ave. sure fits the bill. Construction started and stalled on what would have been a 3BD, 2.5 BA single-family home on a 25' x 125' lot. The home was originally listed for sale for $729,000 in December 2009. Then, it was reduced by more than 50 percent, to $350,750 in late March (and probably marked down to "as-is"). That price was still a bit optimistic, because the place has since seen four price chops, and it's now listed at $117,590.
