More Failed South Loop Condo Sites Hit the Auction Block

Have you been holding out hope all these years that Concept Developers would somehow find a way to finance Azure Tower and the proposed loft conversion next door? Those hopes should finally be put to rest, because Rick Levin and Associates will be auctioning off what looks like most of the 1300 block of South Michigan Avenue on Dec. 15, according to Crain's. In case you're too young to recall, Azure was pitched as a 130-unit condo building designed by Hartshorne Plunkard. (The development website is still active, and depending on how up-to-date Google Street View is, it looks like a sign is still up at 1330 S. Michigan Ave.) Concept also planned to convert the former Cook County Domestic Violence Courthouse next door into lofts, but in August the company was hit with a $3.3-million foreclosure suit. Call it a sign of the times.
