A developer wants to construct a new mixed use building on an empty lot next to the Paulina Brown Line station in Lakeview. The proposed building will contain around 6,000 square feet of retail space and between 32 and 48 rental units depending on whether the development tops off at five, six or seven stories. The developer of the project, Centrum Partners, wants to incorporate a number of sustainable features into the building, including a green roof, a charging station for electric cars, a dedicated bicycle parking area and parking for only eight or nine cars. So far Alderman Pawar and residents are liking what they see, and the developer hopes to get approval soon to begin construction on the site at 3400 N. Lincoln Ave. this summer and will aim for a mid 2015 opening.
