The row home of nominated U.S. ambassador James W. Brewster, Jr. has sold in Lincoln Park for $1,342,500 eight days after listing. President Obama nominated Brewster to the ambassadorship of the Dominican Republic but Brewster's sexual orientation has provoked religious backlash from that country, holding up the confirmation. Chicago Mag's Dennis Rodkin reports that Brewster and partner Bob Satawake paid $875K in 2003 for the 1880s four-bed, which they've since renovated. The place is noteworthy for its hand-carved staircase, lovely fireplaces, and multiple terraces. [Chicago Mag, listing]
