A new retail development is ready to make its way into the quickly developing South Loop neighborhood. A permit has just been issued allowing developers to start construction on a new five-story retail complex at 909 S. Jefferson Street. Unveiled earlier this year, the project is expected to deliver over 100,000-square-feet of commercial space along with two levels of below-grade parking with 209 spaces. However, the proposal presented earlier this year was for a four-story development while the permit indicates that the project being built will be a five-story complex.
Commercial brokerage Newmark Grubb Knight Frank told DNAinfo earlier this year that there had been discussions with home goods, clothing, and furniture retailers for the new development. Signs on the former one-story industrial building at the site suggested that the new project is expected to open by next spring.
